About Me
David Butler
This profile life is a work in progress. I am on a journey of self discovery, and I enjoy learning from others and sharing what I have learned.
The Men’s Group in Zurich was birthed from my desire to provide a safe space where men from all corners of society can learn and share, bringing you one step closer to becoming your version of a deeply happy, powerful man – not my version or anyone else’s.
A few years ago, intense disruption started in my life which prompted my journey and desire to find out “who am I”, and to discover the deeper man that was hidden within me. Most of what I like to share with others comes from my own experience, learnings and discoveries.
It is true, on the other side of fear is freedom.
Taken from insights I gleaned from my mentor, from zen teachings, Robert More, Carl Young, neuroscientific insights into mindfulness, meditation and more, some of the topics I have delt with include:
- Shadow work
- Attachment / dependant
- Codependent vs interdependent
- Connecting to your emotions
- Masculinity / femininity / vulnerability
- Inner peace, finding the bedrock
A spark of every fire we seek is already within us.
“Agni” means Fire in sanskrit (agni.la)
Agni, fire-god of Hinduism, second only to Indra in the Vedic mythology of ancient India. He is equally the fire of the sun, of lightning, and of both the domestic and the sacrificial hearth.
Agni has three forms: fire, lightning and the sun.
Bangladesh: Agnila is pronounced Ognila, meaning ‘the Fire’.
অগ্নি, Ogni means Fire.
In Ayurveda, healthy digestion is the foundation of lasting wellness. Your digestive fire, known as agni in Sanskrit, is responsible for transforming the food and beverages that you take in to your body into the sustenance that supports your thriving existence.
Digestive agni, called jatharagni, is centered in the stomach and is the most important of the 40 types of agni in the body. It governs digestion, absorption, and assimilation of food and other molecules into more subtle substances that allow our body to function. When agni is burning steadily, digestion is comfortable, your cells are nourished, and damaging toxins (called ama) are prevented from building up in your body.
Agni is one of the Panchabhutas, or five elements – one of the foundational principles of Ayurvedic philosophy. According to this theory, everything in the universe is made up of these five elements. Agni referred to as the “Teja Mahabhuta” in the body. It governs our life, strength, health, energy, luster, Ojas (fluid of life, responsible for vigor, heartiness, immunity and more) and Tejas (radiance). Agni represents the root of healthy life when balanced.

For he who wants a new attitude towards life as a man – be it in a relationship, at work, as a father or in everyday life in general.
Our mens circle is focused on depth, authenticity, accountability, and support. We meet monthly, and we follow a structure when we meet to maximize the impact of our time together. Our intentions are to show up to meetings with full presence, to be real and share about our lives. Here you can show yourself as you are. What we say, what we do, what we hear and what we see remains a secret in our circle. We are not competitors but brothers, not judges but fellows, a small tribe, rooted in our fathers’ and forefathers’ strength and power. Crying is invited, tears are invited, anger is invited, and shame is invited too – for the sake of growth, connection and support.
